Hatfield Aerodrome Heritage Trail

I’ve lived in Hatfield for 6 years. Today I decided to (finally) walk the Aerodrome Heritage trail, to see what remained of the once thriving aircraft businesses and airport that made Hatfield famous back in the 1920’s and 30’s.

As a resident it was easy to navigate my way through the 3km walk faster than advertised, with a little shortcut here and there, and luckily for my friend and I, the weather held out and was lovely.

For assignment one, I initially thought about photographing each trail board with its relevant historical point, but as I walked around I soon realised this would be a little difficult, with one board missing due to vandalism and the remainders in need of a little TLC.

My next thought would be to focus in on the art deco style buildings that have remained, and also those buildings for which I have found historical photographs for, and still remain to this day. I feel a mix of these two ideas will form the basis for my Square Mile assignment.
